So interesting experience.. Family went out for dinner here and although the food was great as always the customer service could be better. When we first arrived nobody greeted us. Not even a hello. This is what the lady at the desk said and I quote "follow him". We did follow the gentlemen who had our menus and was seated. Tables were clean and our waitress arrived quickly after to take our drinks. A few moments after though another gentlemen came over and asked to take our drink order. Guess they had some type of miscommunication with who was serving our table. Nevertheless our order was taken and this is where my review will end. I know the food will be great, is every time :) Work on your customer service and this would be 5 stars all the way.

Great food, alcohol needs some work. Margaritas tasted like fruit juice and ice. No taste of any alcohol really. The food was really good. But...it took forever to get waters let alone our food. The waitress while very sweet was horrible. She was too busy messing with her baby and a man that I would assume was the kids dad running around the restaurant! Minus that she can't retain anything, keep in mind the restaurant was practically empty and we spent almost two hours there mainly waiting on her. I could hear her making excuses to the table next to us about how and why she forgot to put in their order and they were complaining about the lackadaisical service and her screaming baby. Potentially a great spot but good lord train the staff or get some new ones.

It all started with me asking for a napkin, and waited 10 plus minutes for it. The service was polite, but terrible. After being agitated, I ordered a beer. 15 minutes later, I had to remind the waitress that I had not gotten my beer. An hour after we ordered we got our food. The food was not spectacular. I felt bad that I didn't trust yelp before we went.

Just got back from a dinner at Carlos O'Kelly's... What the F@$* was I thinking... I swear I'm normally smarter than this. I chose the restaurant because it was close to my hotel and a non Yelp site had a review that stated that "We travel out of our way to go to Carlos O'Kelly's." Just look at the the last name and know this is not a good place for Mexican food. I travel a lot so I often find myself a lone for dinner and elect to sit at the bar. I will start off by saying that it was dollar off jumbo margarita night and although they were the standard margarita mix and nothing special... they did add an extra star to my review. The bartender service was great. I was greeted immediately and my bartender wasn't pushy but was there when I needed him. I was offered chips and salsa which I accepted and I must admit that the chips were Fresh.... out of the tostito's bag. The salsa on the other hand appeared to be homemade and was quite good. I ordered some sort of chicken combo off the $7 dollar menu which included a taco and an enchilada. All the ingredients aside from the chicken appeared to be generic and available at your local supermarket. The rice was bland, the beans probably were out of a can, and the cheese sauce on the enchilada probably out of a jar. I can't say that the experience was terrible I just hope that whoever recommended the restaurant doesn't drive too far out of the way.

Yes, I know this is not "real" Mexican food, but it still has its place. If you live in GI like I do, you have a plethora of restaurants to choose from offering genuine Mexican food. This is not why I chose to eat at Carlos. The SO and I like to come on Tuesday nights for a blue raspberry mug-o-rita. They are very good. Taste like liquid cotton candy, and for 2.00 you can't go wrong. If you fill out a survey on your receipt, you get a free 5.00 sampler of chip, guacamole and con queso. I like the con queso, boyfriend not as much. If we are eating a meal, a fajita chicken burrito is good. I love the garlic butter sauce. Friendly wait staff, and the bartender always remembers our order. Once I was told they were doing away with the blue raspberry flavor, so I ordered a reg red raspberry margarita. Next time we went in, the blue was back. Not sure what that was about. Otherwise, its an enjoyable experience for us.

Not the best Mexican food, but pretty damn good! The Cinco Sampler is legit.

My uncle Willie from Queens was half-Irish (mother) and half-Italian (father). This engendered in him a lifelong hatred of boiled potatoes, and a lust for Johnnie Walker Red. This joint has a similar backstory, I reckon: Carlos' dad, sick of eating goddamn potatoes, heads out west and finds a mamacita who will keep him happy with tortillas and beans (and inspires Carlos to open a chain of Mexican restaurants). This is the verisimilitude (how's that for a $25 word?) which I brought with me to the table at this chain. I usually avoid places like this, ever since I got banned from a fucking Chili's in Connecticut and the prick assistant manager even lied to me about why I got banned. So fuck Chili's and fuck chains. But it was my mother's birthday, and I had a coupon. This is really good Mexican food. These days almost every town has those lunch trucks selling tacos, so if you're a chain you better get your act together to compete with the real thing. In the past I've had enchiladas here--very decent, not too sloppy. Any slob can throw some Mexican food on a plate. This time I had a shredded beef chimichanga--not thrown together, but decently presented with a cheese sauce. How do you compare Mexican restaurants? For me it's like eating pizza--if i eat all the crust, I know without thinking about it that it's gotta be good pizza. Here I finished off all the rice and refried beans--nothing on the plate was a disappointment. The fried ice cream was a good finish. As for goddamn Chili's, I was in the bar buying shots of woodka for this Polish massage therapist (so she told me--and she gave me her card) and I was also checking out the low-rider jeans on this young chiq who was there in the bar with her mother. Well I could tell mama didn't like that, she got up to lay it on to some manager, I got Cancer intuition and could tell some kinda fucking heat was up on me to get my drunk ass out, so I left. 3 days later I walk in and I'm asked to leave. Why, I said to the little prick manager. Some bullshit about how I was pulling some shit on a waitress (jerkoff, I never EAT at Chili's anymore, I just drink in the bar here when I'm desperate) but I said nothing, let him live with his own verisimilitude.

i went here twice during my visit, compared to the other reviews i must have hit on nights both times servers friendly - chips were warm queso was one of the best i've had including some places in Kansas City and my niece counts it as her favorite queso ever i even brought her take home queso and chips actually- both nights my taco and two enchilada combo meal thats my go to order in trying any new place- and all was really excellent -- flavorful hot and yummy. i wish i could have some of those cheese enchiladas right now actually. i've had truly horrendous tacos enchiladas here in Kansas City and this place did not serve me that and i love them for it..

This was the spot my girls and i would go to get out. We would just order sodas and get free chips and salsa and smoke ciggies....they never kicked us out even though we were always too loud.

Wow. Waited almost 10 minutes for a table and the place wasn't even full. Took almost an hour to get our food. Then we had to remind our waitress that we had ordered drinks and that we needed silverware. Food was good, once we actually got it. But overall a horrible experience.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
